Welcome to Reciclandia

One man can change the world, imagine what all people together can do.

The Pacific and the Indian Ocean are full of wasted plastic, centered by the sea-currents. Why does nobody clean it up? Probably because it’s not possible to do it within one of the existing economic systems (or it would have been done already). Probably because “making a profit” is the force that rules our modern world, and no individual or company or government has invented a way to make a profit out of this floating plastic. And there’s more then enough waste available on other places, and the economic system tells us to make more money with less costs.

There is one way to get this plastic out of the ocean: if we can turn it into something more valuable then money. Economy helps us here because money is only a secondary goal, meant to achieve the primary goal in our live: happiness. If Reciclandia can give every inhabitant a happy life, making happiness a “product”, a “result” of the amount of wasted plastic that we recycle, that would be the best solution.

So we’ll have to start to recycle the economic system, which implies that we’ll need to recycle laws and politics too. We’ll need to recycle our way of thinking, getting the important things in life on the first place again.

Best would be to create a new country where we can start from scratch, a floating country that’s made out of recycled plastic that we get out of the ocean. A country based on respect for humans, animals and environment. We call this country Reciclandia.

That’s what all this is about. An idea, a system, a gigantic recycling-machine that, once set up and running, will maintain and improve itself and grow on it’s own success. Based on the good, the truth, the equal benefit of everyone that makes it possible. A system that does not allow poverty, abuse, violence, crime, exploitation and all those other things that have a negative influence on happiness.

We can say it this simple but there’s a lot to think about, to make it clear how and why, a lot of possible problems to solve, a lot of doubts and dangers. It’s an ambitious plan because we want to create a floating country and have to start with nothing. So we hope you can take the time to read the details of the plan, we hope to get your interest and most of all we hope to change the world and make it a better place for ourselves and future generations (and what’s wrong with that?).

And if you don’t want to know how it works but do want to do something good for our environment, that’s OK. Just read the chapter “You Can Help” and share your knowledge with us, help us solve the problems so we can start.

We don’t want your money, giving you the proof that nothing of Reciclandia will end up in pockets or being used for other things. But we’ll need help of people that know things or can do things. The basic force in Reciclandia will be “doing things together (and share the benefits together)”. And this force is so strong that creating Reciclandia follows that same rule: if we can’t find enough people that help, Reciclandia will never start.

That’s why we start with that first line:

One man can change the world, imagine what all people together can do.
